Week 4

We hit the half way point on Wednesday. Compared 75 miles this week for a total of 296 miles or 59% of the journey.

As we left the town of Mansilla of the Mules we crossed the Esla River via a 17th-century bridge. In addition we later crossed a Roman bridge, known as the Puente de Hierro or Iron Bridge, it’s a remarkable architectural piece and a reminder of the Roman heritage.

During our planning we made the decision to take every Sunday as a day of rest. I have discovered there is I distinct difference in energy and stamina between Monday after a day of rest, and Saturday, the completion of 6 days of walking. By Saturday afternoon I am crawling to complete the day. While I walk at a pace of 25 minute miles, with rest stops it is really 30 minutes. So in calculating walking time for the day I divide the total miles by 2.

Have a good week, I’ll pray for you all, and check in again next week.
