Thursday this week we crossed another mountain range. This stage is considered by many to be the most difficult of the Camino. Actually I believe the second day we walked was more difficult. Perhaps because we weren’t broken in yet. We actually reached the highest point on the French Way of the Camino. A gentleman was standing at the top playing the bag pipes. He said “This is the reward for walking all of the way up there. It was a difficult week but I found the decent to be more difficult then the assent. The surface was rocky and uneven. One really had to watch their step. It slowed me down to about half my normal speed. We are down to the last week with about 70 miles to go.
